For our August Limited Release we wanted to do something decidedly different from our usual monthly sauces. This month we are releasing 4 incredibly super-hot sauces. We traveled down to the NC State Farmer’s Market in Raleigh, NC, to visit Stephanie and Ronnie Moore’s Produce Stand for some truly incredible peppers.

This month’s four super-hot pepper fueled sauces are to be feared and revered. Just like the Gods of the past these sauces command your respect and are not to be trifled with. Allow me to introduce the Old Gods:

Hushtahli (Chocolate Carolina Reaper) - Named for the Choctaw term of reverence for the Sun. The Choctaw people held the Sun in great regard and believed fire to be the earthly representation of the Sun.

Helios (Yellow Carolina Reaper) - Although Apollo gets a lot of love as the Sun God in the Greek Pantheon, Helios is the original Sun God and also a Titan (the early order of Greek Gods preceding the classic Olympic Gods).

Marduk (Wartryx Pepper) - Hailing from ancient Mesopotamia and Babylon, Marduk is the head God of his Pantheon. He is often associated with storms, water, magic, judgements, time, and the planet Jupiter.

Tiamat (Big Mama Mustard Pepper) - Another heavy hitter from Babylon, Tiamat represents the primordial chaos of creation. In fact in an attempt to avenge her husband’s murder she takes on the form of a mighty sea dragon and unsuccessfully engages in combat with Marduk. From the two halves of her severed body, Marduk then creates the Heavens and the Earth.

In order to truly showcase the incredible flavor and eye popping spiciness, each of the sauces ingredients only include the actual pepper (each sauce is one distinct pepper type) and distilled vinegar. No extra spices or seasonings are needed, these peppers stand on their own. Each pepper is rated at over 1 million scoville units, so enjoy these with care, you wouldn’t want to anger the Old Gods.
